National Interschool Debating Competition 8 Months, 3 Weeks ago

As told by Bro Rafizi:
We lost in the final to SMAP Kajang by a 5-4 jury and a margin of 3, though we have won against them in preliminary rounds.
I was a bit sad that it was not a complete package of parting gift to Affendy, the captain - but looking back I guess we have no reasons to despair.
1) We are the only school which have gone to both English and BM final in one year (2004)
2) We are the only school which have gone to straight 5 consecutive finals (2004 - 2008)
3) Our boys have dominated the Overall Best Speaker (2004 - Sdr Zaim 0105, 2006 - Sdr Aslam 0307, 2007/08 - Sdr Affendy 0408)
4) Our boys have dominated the Best Speaker Final 3 years in a row (Sdr Affendy 0408 - 2006 to 2008)
5) We are the only school in the competition history to have won the knock out rounds with complete majority (9-0 jury throughout from double octofinal to final) in 2007
6) UIA National Championship is the biggest parliamentary debate competition organised on carnival basis (topic given half an hour before each debate) that brought schools from all categories - SBP, MRSM, premier schools, private schools, Chinese schools, Maahad Tahfiz etc. - perhaps the best indication that at least in debating, we are still one of the best; if not the best
Affendy won the best speaker overall and best speaker final.
It was a new team anyway and despite the intense pressure (those who were there should remember how the whole hall cheered for opponents) throughout the tournaments, the 2 newbies withstood the pressure and brought us to the final.
From 2009 onwards it's a new team altogether for both - the planning that took place in 2003/04 came to fruition in 2007 and an end in 2008. We have to start scratch with the next generation of debaters - and maybe the new coaches (Sdr Izzat 2004 etc.) will take it from where we the older generation (myself, Arwah Adlan Benan, Arwah Shahrol, Sdr Adany Co90, Sdr Fazurin Co94 and Sdr Sani Co95) left.
Thanks for the interest
ps: Datuk Sarp was there, he waved MCKK tie to us/MCKK supporters.
