IPOH: Cool heads give mighty leverage, as the team from Malay College
Kuala Kangsar proved when they topped the upper secondary category in
the RHB-The Star Mighty Minds state challenge.
They will now
represent Perak in the national finals in October.
“We did not
have much time to prepare for the challenge as we were asked by our
teachers to take part at the last minute. We just told each other to
relax, not to be over-confident and have fun,” said Muhammad Arsyad
Azrai Abdullah, 17, after the competition on Sunday.
Another team member, Ahmad Akmal Adnan, 17, said they were now
looking forward to the finals.
“We will strive to do our very
best to make Perak proud,” said Ahmad Akmal.

KUALA KANGSAR: The Malay College Kuala
Kangsar (MCKK) will celebrate the listing of its school building as a
national heritage site in its Youth Development Summit this year.
The
school, famed as the "Eton of the East", aims to provide an insight on
Malaysian history and culture as well as promote interaction and
exchange of ideas between local and foreign students.
Head
prefect and student chairman Mohd Ahmad Idzri Ahmad Redza, 17, said the
theme was chosen because of the school's most recognisable feature,
known as the "Big School".

"MCKK has
every reason to excel"
KUALA KANGSAR: With all the
privileges provided, there is no reason for students of the elite Malay
College Kuala Kangar (MCKK) not to achieve the best results and remain
at the top of the academic field, said the Sultan of Perak, Sultan Azlan
Shah, here.
"If MCKK fails, it will be a huge disappointment."
The
sultan pointed out that the Education Ministry had recognised MCKK as
one of the high performing schools which recruited not only the cream of
the crop but whose teachers were also the best.

On 29 June 2008, Mingguan Malaysia interviewed Datuk Sri Hishammuddin Hussein, the Minister of Education, commenting on the MCKK Speech Day Address by DYTM Raja Dr Nazrin Shah. Here's the full article in Malay:
Melayu perlu bersatu
